HCA Healthcare is seeking a skilled RN Charge Nurse for our CVICU team. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver high-acuity cardiovascular and intensive care to critically ill patients, while providing clinical leadership and support to bedside staff. Responsibilities include overseeing patient flow, delegating assignments, mentoring team members, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and safety standards. You will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, support staff development, and champion patient-centered care in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment where your expertise and leadership make a significant impact.
Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU
Serve as charge nurse for assigned shifts, coordinating patient flow, staffing assignments, and daily unit operations
Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status, including complex hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
Manage post–cardiac surgery and high-acuity cardiac patients, including ventilator management and mechanical circulatory support devices as applicable
Act as a clinical resource and mentor to CVICU nurses, nursing assistants, and ancillary staff; support orientation and precepting of new team members
Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection prevention and safety protocols within the CVICU
Participate in and support quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes
Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education, updates, and emotional support throughout the critical care experience
Assist leadership with problem-solving, escalation of critical issues, and fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth
Cardiovascular intensive care nursing

Post–cardiac surgery and cardiac critical care management
